HOAG URGENT CARE TELEHEALTH FAQs

General Questions

What types of conditions does Hoag Urgent Care treat through telehealth?

Hoag Urgent Care treats most illnesses and injuries over video. If your issue does require an in person visit, lab tests, or x-rays, we will seamlessly complete your visit in person. Most of the time you will be able to continue your visit with the same provider.

Can you treat children by video?

Yes. We treat both adults and children. For any patient under 18, a parent must be available during the visit.

Does the provider have access to my medical records?

If you are an existing Hoag Urgent Care or Hoag Medical Group patient, we will have access to your medical records during the video visit. We will also chart your video visit and maintain your records.

Will I see a Hoag provider?

Yes. Your video visit will be conducted by the same providers you would see if you were in person. The provider you see will be at a Hoag Urgent Care location and available if it becomes necessary for you to complete your visit in person.

Can I use Hoag Urgent Care from another state or country?

If you are a past Hoag Urgent Care or Hoag Medical Group patient, then yes. Established patients can utilize our video visit service from anywhere.

Are video visit safe and secure?

All security safeguards are taken with our video platform. We are committed to protecting the privacy of every individual who uses our services. We comply with all relevant state, national and international laws and regulations, including the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, known as HIPAA. Unless permitted or required by law, your medical information will not be shared without your consent.

Billing / Insurance

Can I use insurance for a video visit?

To increase access to healthcare, most insurance plans are currently allowing video visits. If we accept your insurance for an in-person visit, we should also accept your same insurance for a video visit. If your insurance is not accepted, we also accept credit card payments for your visit.

How much does a video visit cost?

Your copay is determined by your insurance plan and is almost always the same copay that would apply for an in-person urgent care visit.

What is the cost if I need care for a COVID issue?

Many insurance plans are waiving the copay for visits related to COVID. The copay will be verified prior to your visit.

Prescriptions

Can I get a prescription?

We cannot guarantee a prescription. It is up to the provider to determine the most appropriate treatment. Some controlled substances require printed prescriptions and may not be offered via video.

How are prescriptions sent to the pharmacy?

If you are prescribed medication during your video visit, the provider will electronically send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.

How long will it take for my prescription to be ready?

Prescriptions are sent immediately to your pharmacy. We recommend contacting your pharmacy to find out when your prescription will be ready.
